Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

So here is my S10. I’ve had my old buddy going on 5 1/2 years now and over that time my friend has developed a lot of cancer. What should I do?

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

How should one remove all this cancer? Would it be cheaper to go to a junkyard and get parts? Or should I weld and use sheet metal? Or am I screwed and is it terminal? I’d love to customize it and do some more hard off-roading and adventures with it but until this rust is fixed I don’t want to put any money into it.

Kinja'd!!!

I wouldn’t mind doing something kinda like this. Mild modifications

You should be able to get cab corners and rocker panels for it. All trucks of this era loved to rot there. Relatively simple cut/weld job for a body shop that knows what they are doing.

Assuming the frame is solid, smallbear has it right. Patch panels appear to be readily available for pretty cheap. Fitting the panels shouldn’t be to bad. That just leaves painting the finished project.

Personally, I’d see what a competent body shop would quote, but I don't weld (or respray) yet.

They all rust in those spots. As long as the frame is good, these spots are no big deal. You might be able to get a used bumper, but they make patch panels for the body.

Come south and buy a bed and or cab? Loads of rust free ones here in the wrecking yards.

Perfect excuse to buy a welder.

My Ranger had similar cancer issues.

Not perfect, but not rusty either.

Free of rust. May have to buy them tho. Granted out paint takes a beating with the heat. Been close to 100 the last few weeks every day.

Paint is easier to fix than rust

Neither did I. Nothing like high stakes to bump the learning curve.
